An Advent Reflection: Week 1

Each week of this year’s Advent season, we will be sharing a reflection from one of our dedicated staff members. We hope that their words inspire a deeper sense of hope and wonder as we prepare for the coming of Christ.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God”

– Hebrews 12: 1-2

Let Us Storm Heaven Together

There is no doubt that the Solidarity HealthShare community is bearing a heavy cross right now. The processing time for medical needs is longer than we want, and the hold times when trying to contact us are unacceptable. While it is true that this, in part, is due to difficulties with the implementation of new software and technology, we feel that the enemy is working overtime to prevent us from fulfilling our mission. Therefore, it is time for us to band together as a community of believers and do something about it.

The Advent season began on Sunday, December 1, 2019. Advent is a season of preparation, of hope, and of anticipation. It is also a penitential season, though, not to the same extent that Lent is. With this in mind, we are calling for the Solidarity community this Advent to fast and to pray for the work we are doing to restore and rebuild an authentic Catholic healthcare culture. Let us storm heaven together, as a united body, and ask the Lord, in His mercy, to pour out the graces needed to endure this cross, so that we can experience the joy that awaits us in 2020.

That We May All Do the Will of God

Please email us at prayers@solidarityhealthshare.org to let us know what sacrifices and/or prayers you will be offering this Advent. We will share some of these on next week’s Advent Reflection post (anonymously) so that you can see how other members of the community are participating and pray alongside the rest of us.

“Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that you may do the will of God and receive what is promised”

– Hebrews 10: 35-36

We thank you in advance for your confidence in the work and mission of Solidarity. We know the Lord has big plans for our ministry. A year from now, we’ll look back and see how this time of trial and tribulation helped to perfect and complete the work we are doing (cf. James 1:4).

Together, we will persevere!
